Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WH-CH720N headphones are over-ear buetooth headphones with Active Noise Canceling (ANC), Passthrough, virtual surround sound, and multi-device pairing capabilities. They support both Bluetooth and auxiliary (Aux) connections.

Purpose:

  • General purpose headphones
  • Suitable for VR/XR/MR due to audio passthrough feature
  • No latency in cable connection, 30-40ms latency via Bluetooth

Quick Guide:

  • Pairing: Press Bluetooth button for 5 seconds until the indicator light blinks.
  • Get the latest software and drivers here

Full-duplex audio connection

(simultaneous headphone and microphone use) is possible like so:

1. full-duplex using minijack cable:

  • Connect to a (TRS) Y-splitter-cable (one socket, two connectors) to the headphones with the provided AUX cable.
  • Connect Y-cable outs to the Headphone outs and Microphone inputs of USB audio adapter.
  • NB: headphone audio will be mono

2. full-duplex via Bluetooth:

  1. Functional on iOS and MacOS (Versions? Software?)
  2. Not possible on an RPi (still testing possibilities).

3. full-duplex combining Bluetooth and Cable (AUX):

  1. Bluetooth connection (in or out) not possible when headphones are already connected by aux cable (out or in).
